Womens studies class help!!!

topic posted Tue, April 19, 2005 - 4:06 PM by  Annie...
Dear friends,

I am currently taking a Psychology of Women Class and am doing a study on the "Importance of Women Gathering".
I am trying to discover a concrete explanation for the inexplicable question of why a gathering of women only is different (in energy, dynamics, etc.) from a gathering of both sexes, and I need your help!
If you could please answer the following few questions, that would be wonderful!!!
Any input is greatly appreciated and valued!

Questions:

1. Why is it important for women to gather together?

2. What is the difference between the gathering of women only, as opposed to men and women gathering?

3. Do you partake in any women only groups/circles/social functions? (If so please list and explain).

4. What age range/life stage do you fall in?:
15-21
21-28
28-35
35-42
42-49
49-56
56-63
63-70
70-77

Please feel free to share any other insight or comments!

Thank you so much!

Namaste.

    1. Women have been squashed and repressed in the last several hundred years of history. While that's changing, it's still evident in places. Many women feel much more comfortable and empowered in a gathering of just their own.

    2. You would almost have to attend both kinds to feel the difference.

    3. Not really. I attend one drum circle regularly that very rarely includes any other women. I do so for two reasons; most of that particular circle is composed of a 'clan' I'm a member of, and for myself personally I do better in a drum circle with a LOT of testosterone in it. I tend to overwhelm (or feel like I'm overwhelming) an all women's circle.

    4. 35-42..... I'm 37.
